Our goals for these screenings are:

  1. To inspire the public by revealing the culture of peace that already exists
  2. Encourage further public engagement in peace building activities - resources will be available on our website

How to host a house party:

  1. Post your EVENT online now and start inviting and tracking RSVPs.
  2. DOWNLOAD or purchase a copy of the short film: Satyagraha: 100 Years of Nonviolence, featuring Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, to be shown before the feature. Please Note: The download version is 130mb. Anticipate a download time of about 1-2 hours. You'll need Windows Media Player and a PC (it doesn't work on a Mac yet). We're working on other formats to accomodate more people, but in the meanwhile feel free to download this to screen at your 100 Years of Nonviolence events if you are able.
  3. Purchase the Gandhi DVD right here from our site and show the movie Gandhi, either in its entirety, or an abbreviated viewing. Here are suggestions for abrreviated viewings.
  4. Use the Discussion Guide (available soon) or Education Guide to initiate discussion about nonviolence.
  5. Have each person commit to take one action as an ambassador of nonviolence. For ideas, see upcoming events ororganizations to join or support.
  6. If you are moved by this event and want to make a donation to New Yorkers for a Department of Peace or the M.K. Gandhi Institute we encourage you to do so.
